Come experience the very first 3D Ys game as you've never experienced it before! Already the foundation upon which Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin would later be built, this version of Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim comes equipped with an original translation and brand new, entirely unique gameplay features such as the addition of a super hardcore “Catastrophe Mode” for fans of the later titles, full widescreen support, map warping, Steam achievements and leaderboards, and even a full digital art book packed with concept sketches, hi-res character portraits and original production PSDs. See what you've been missing with this definitive version of the game that brought Ys into the modern era!.
You could do better within the Ys series, but it's still near the top of the pack as far as retro-styled action RPGs go.
If you played this back in the PS2 days, know that it is worth picking up again thanks to all the changes XSeed and Nihon Falcom have given this update. If you're fresh on the Ys series, then give this one a go, you won't be disappointed.
Ys VI still has its original charm and classic elements to make it a timeless game. It’s a simple and not overly complicated action RPG which makes it an easy game to experience and love.
Some gameplay elements haven’t aged well, but others demonstrate that you shouldn’t fix what isn’t broken. A must for Ys devotees and JRPG fans.
Even despite its flaws (substandard bosses, grind, backtracking) it’s still Ys – the top shelf of action RPG’s. [07/2015, p.74]
Among contemporary Ys releases and remakes—Seven, The Oath in Felghana, and Memories of Celceta—The Ark of Napishtim is more reliant on support provided by its adopted hardware. Unfortunately its tangled journey to the personal computer cost as many features as it gained, leaving The Ark of Napishtim as little more than a curious architect of the Ys games that followed.
Ys VI: Ark of Napisthim was a great game, in 2003 when it released in japan. Now, especially since Origin and Oath in Felghana, it feels limited and obsolete. Adol has had so many better adventures in a later stage.
