Even the inconvenience aside that this year (unlike 2016 and 2015) the console DLC is not included and has to be paid for separately the direction of the dominant wrestling franchise is still unclear. You have more wrestlers than ever before, but with just marginal enhancements of the proven fighting mechanics and reduction of modes you wonder what’s next.
Oh boy, how fun it is to smack down Roman Reigns, while moving through the backstage-area. Or throwing Roman Reigns off a ladder. Or even kicking Roman Reigns off the entry-ramp. Yeah, I probably do not like Roman Reigns that much. But I definitely do like this game. The gameplay is back to feeling overall more well-rounded and some small issues have also been fixed in WWE 2K17. The outdated technology and noticeable screen tearing doesn’t bother me that much. What does bug me is the missing showcase and the blatant DLC-policy.
The PC version of WWE 2K17 comes out of time for several reasons, with a standard price, no DLCs included and the same issues we found on console: cumbersome controls, no story mode and a mixed bag in terms of graphics.
WWE 2k17 is very disappointing, and it has a lot of unclaimed potential. The graphics aren't all that good, especially the audience. The ranking system of the Online doesn't work well, and the game is full of bugs. On the other hand, the special abilities are great, the customization system is wonderful and the special games modes are perfect.
The basic combat is fine, but WWE 2K17 botches everything, from performance to presentation.
