On a race track, it's the car that makes all the difference. In a rally, it's the driver. WRC 6 puts you to the test: fog, mud, punctures, night racing, engine breakdowns… you have to deal with it all.
WRC 6 also includes: all of the official 2016 content, including Rally China, 11 Super Special Stages on a 1:1 scale, local split-screen multiplayer, worldwide leaderboards and new online challenges every week, all the designated cars and courses in very high definition, two brand new modes, even more spectacular game cameras and free access to the entire 2017 eSports WRC!.
WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship is also available on PS4 & XBox One.
For a single-player rally enthusiast, WRC 6 may be a little too arcadeish, but for those looking for a fun split-screen game to play with their friends or family, this is a safe, and very visually pleasing, bet.
WRC 6 has taken a nice step up compared to last year's version, especially in the graphics department, but still lacks the fine polishing. Also, a more engaging career mode, a couple of classic cars and a proper wheel force feedback would be a huge plus. [Nov 2016]
It might not hold a candle to Dirt Rally in its car selection or look and feel, but it’s not bad for developer Kylotonn’s sophomore effort on the series. If Milestone’s stint turned you off, as it did me, now could be a good time to get reacquainted.
Even if WRC 6 shows a little bit of improvement over the last iteration, it's still miles away from Codemaster's Dirt Rally. We can only hope that with work and ideas, Kylotonn manages to bring back the official games to the lever they were at when Evolution Studios were making the game.
WRC 6 does not offend nor enthuse – and because of this the game loses the battle with Dirt Rally. Even with the licensed season, WRC still lacks atmosphere, character and attention to detail. Double shame, because the steering doesn’t feel bad at all.
Though the new content is updated with the real world championship rally season 2016, there are no improvements to the series. The game design is odd and the driving is pretty bad. If you are very much into rally driving and you think DiRT Rally is too challenging, this could be your game though.
The production quality isn’t terrible, when compared to other titles in the genre, there’s nothing that makes WRC 6 special, besiders than the fully licensed vehicles and drivers. If you’re in it for the name and brand recognition, then this title is probably for you. Otherwise, either buy Dirt Rally or put your $44.99 in a piggy bank and save up for a real rally car.
