The Technomancer is a sci-fi RPG that offers players plenty of dynamic combat action based on 4 skill trees dedicated to 3 combat styles and the destructive electrical powers of The Technomancer XBOX ONEs. Technomancers are “mage-warriors” who can use their innate ability to harness destructive electrical powers enhanced by their cybernetic implants. Respected and feared by all, they are formidable warriors who have been trained to fight from an early age.
But you can’t resolve every situation with brute force alone in The Technomancer; a dynamic dialog system plays a major role in the quests, enabling the player to alter the course of the plot depending on his decisions. Craft equipment, weapons and armour for yourself and to equip the companions you recruit as you progress through your adventure and with whom you will form friendships, romances and even intense rivalries. The player is fleeing for his life with the secret police on his tail.
He must confront the harsh reality of the Red Planet as he embarks on a long quest that will lead him through the refuges of the tribal communities on Mars, cities buried under the ice and the dystopian slums that have grown up around the few remaining cities.
While the âcause and effectâ mechanics may not be as fleshed out as in modern titles like The Witcher 3, The Technomancer blends enough new qualities with vintage attributes in order to create an authentic world and a whole bunch of electric fun.
A good an passion-infused cyberpunk RPG, witdh great landscapes and a good multi-approach combat system. Unluckily the game gets dragged down by a flawed technical production, with many graphical flaws and unconvincing animations, and some bad design choices like the heavy backtracking.
Great fighting system, but game suffers from lackluster manuscript and voice acting. [Aug 2016]
I quickly felt homesick when confronted with the wobbly controls and the lack of modern features and mechanics youâd expect from the genre. As you play, the appeal of the world fades, and the shortcomings begin to shine. Itâs a playable adventure, just not a re-playable one. I give praise to the concept and story The Technomancer boasts, but not the game itâs built within.
Spiders proves once again that you don't really need a huge budget to create something pleasant and somewhat unique. The Technomancer is not a top-shelf AAA kind of game, but it's also not a mediocre one. Some 30 hours on Mars goes by very quickly.
Technomancer is a great RPG that isn't quite as good as it could be. The few small flaws that it has are outweighed by a fantastic story that will pull you in piece by piece. The story isn't something we've seen before, the gameplay is well done, and the graphics are all on spot.
There's promise but The Technomancer just can't get away from well-worn genre conventions. [Sept 2016, p.84]
