There are a million worlds in the galaxy. Only one of them is Home It was supposed to be a short test run - a quick flight to Alpha Centauri and back. But when mankind’s first experimental jump drive goes wrong, a misfit crew finds itself trapped on the wrong side of the universe - alone, injured, falling apart.
The only way back… is through. Explore an endlessly shifting universe. Form alliances with strange aliens, from the noble Wolphax Knights to cruel-minded Ilitza slaver empire.
Harness your crew’s skills in everything from research to archeology to diplomacy. Learn the laws of an often hostile universe, and make tough decisions that may change it forever. Do whatever it takes to get back to Earth.
The Long Journey Home combines the endless freedom of space with a new open questing system that always leaves you in command. Deliver the stranded Glukkt to his homeworld as he asks, or to your new slaver friends? Attempt to make allies with everyone, or pin your hopes on the tougher races, and hope they never turn on you? Jump by jump, make hard decisions and live with the consequences, in a universe that is never the same twice. One mission.
Endless adventures. Where will your Journey take you?.
Each play through is going to be different and itâs simple enough that it makes for a good pick up and play title. It also has one of the nicest notes Iâve seen on a game recently, when you go to quite it tells you âyour game will be savedâ⊠to often these days (especially with console ports etc) you canât be too sure if youâre at a point that will be saved or if when you return you will find yourself some way back in your journey⊠so itâs a small but nice element.
The Long Journey Home is an interesting exploration game that succeeds in a lot of ways, but never really seems to shine.
Interesting space survival that walks a tightrope between motivation and resignation with its harsh resource shortage.
A savage, sometimes frustrating space exploration game that succeeds because of beautiful design and a compelling universe.
The developer clearly didn't want to enable too many people to conquer space. The Long Journey Home is a game for few. This cosmic roguelike demands angelic patience and understanding - without it you'll perish in the coldness of space. The journey was supposed to be memorable but there is too much punishment and too little fun.
Quotation forthcoming.
The Long Journey Home had so much promise but Daedalic forgot to make it playable. They focused on the big picture, on the huge epic universe, without realizing that itâs the small stuff thatâs important.
