THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV will be making its stateside debut with a partnership between SNK and Atlus U. S. A.
The vaunted fighting game series, which first made its debut in 1994, is entering a new evolution with THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV PC thanks to series-first 3D graphics and debuting exclusively on the PlayStation 4 console. The classic 3 vs. 3 battle system is unchanged in KOF XIV and the perfectionists at SNK have made some notable updates to the fighting engine.
From streamlining controls to improving the Combo and MAX Mode mechanics, the developers have worked tirelessly to bring hardcore fans and newcomers the most competitive, but accessible, game in KOF history.
THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV is also available on PS4.
On PlayStation 4 The King of Fighters XIV was impressive, and on PC it’s even more so. Being frank, I think it’s the best 2D fighter out there, all things considered.
Don't let the weird presentation through you off on this one: King of Fighters XIV is the same great game that we all know and love. While the characters do look a lot less lifelike and their animation, particularly in cutscenes, can seem jaggy and stiff, the animation during battles and the awesome, fun and engaging gameplay more than makes up for it. It may not be one of the best entries, but it is worthy of its name.
The smoothness of play and the multitude of fighters from which to choose provide a near excellent time. But, unless a friend’s available for a local versus match, or you’re willing to play online, the initial excitement diminishes after the fourth- or fifth-dozenth round — though this not atypical for the genre. Regardless, fighter-gamers amongst us will walk away satisfied from The King of Fighters XIV.
