One of Destructoid’s top indie games to look for in 2016. This is TASTEE: we do take out. You are the director, you will coordinate a master plan using every tool at your disposal.
Off the books, unsanctioned and highly illegal, you’ll be doing the dirty work the government can’t. They are elite, elusive, and deliciously dangerous. Independents and rogues, these mercs do not play well with others and we’re going to cram them all into your rundown diner: TASTEE.
They’re an unruly powder keg waiting for a spark…but fortunately most of these guys like explosions. This is your team. Your job is to recruit these hired guns and form the TASTEE team; use them to orchestrate missions to take down the Cartel.
Misfits and outcasts, each merc has refined their own personal MO when it comes to death and destruction. Their unique set of skills is exactly what you’ll need to steal guns, interrupt supply lines, save hostages, formulate traps, and execute epic gunfights on your mission to take down The Cowboy - the big boss responsible for a global crime epidemic. Lethal tactics have been authorized… Good luck.
TASTEE: Lethal Tactics offers a full-featured package of deep strategic combat that manages to avoid overcomplicating things like controls and menus.
A turn-based tactical effort that manages to deftly marry cheeky style with small scale strategy, TASTEE Lethal Tactics might not be the most groundbreaking effort around but its charm and accessibility make for a compellingly fun prospect.
From the school of Frozen Synapse, a plan-and-go turn based tactical game which is going to shine in multiplayer.
TASTEE: Lethal Tactics may not be the most welcoming strategy game around, but once you manage to crawl your way over the seemingly insurmountable hurdle it initially places in front of you, there’s a great sense of satisfaction when you finally start racking up those victories.
In all ways well-designed tactical turn-based strategy is perhaps too close to Frozen Synapse, and it suffers with bugged controls, but for the fans of the genre it is still an obligation.
An uncompromising game to get into, never once changing gears from its difficult plateau. It’s firm but mostly fair, where your failures are usually based around that one lapse into laziness. But when you play back your success, and see this 20-minute incremental strategy turn into 40 seconds of ferocious B-movie action, it’s a violent ballet that even John Woo would be proud of.
TASTEE: Lethal Tactics brings serious style and grace to some turn based chaos.
