Featuring gameplay that automatically adjusts to the player's skill level and innovative game design that makes reading music visually fun and intuitive, Rocksmith engages experienced musicians and those who are picking up a guitar for the first time. The game includes a sizeable library of music from classic rock bands to current artists, such as The Animals, The Black Keys, David Bowie, Interpol, Nirvana and The Rolling Stones.
The PC version doesn't offer anything additional over the console version, other than perhaps less audio latency, so those who already own a copy have no reason to pick up the PC offering. However, those who don't have the game and are musically inclined would do well to pick up Rocksmith, and the PC version is arguably the most accessible version of all.
Rocksmith has a good soundtrack and actually teaches you how to play the guitar. No more pressing plastic buttons, it's time to get serious. But because of that, newcomers might get frightened since it's really hard work to master a song. The minigames add a lot of fun while managing to keep you learning.
If ten years ago, when I told my parents I want to learn to play guitar, I had had a choice between a 15W practice amp and this game, I would have chosen Rocksmith. [12/2012, p.74]
If you hear someone claiming a mouse and a keyboard are the most suited controls for a PC, turn on Rocksmith for him. This educational game proves that you simply can't beat a guitar with some funny buttons. It certainly has its magic, but you won't probably become a rocking mage. However, as an accessory for an amateur guitarist it serves perfectly.
Rocksmith game has ambition to become a guitar playing teacher, but because of its flaws in the learning part of the ambition is not fully achieved. [Nov 2012]
