Deep below the nightmarish, polluted hive cities of Necromunda, in the twisted, vertiginous, dark tunnels of the Underhive, rival gangs fight to the bitter end for personal power, wealth, survival and the honour of their Houses. Only the strongest survive. Lead, customize, and grow your gangs of Escher, Goliath, and Orlock.
Specialize each member and send them to battle in hazardous dystopian environments. Exploit the terrain in tactical gunfights: climb raised walkways to take advantage, set traps, and ambush foes to force them into bloody melee engagements. Learn new skills, loot equipment and bring your evolved gang to 4-player online gang fights.
Necromunda: Underhive Wars is also available on PS4 & XBox One.
Necromunda: Underhive Wars is a capable strategy games full of tactical options, but the glacial pace will put more people off than draw them in.
Necromunda: Underhive Wars works and that's just about all that it does. The frustrating lack of color and speed does not do it any favors.
Building off of the XCOM style of strategy, you get to decide how you move and act or react as you’re fighting it out. While the strategy can be fun, it’s all a bit sluggish, and that can make each fight feel as though it takes an eternity. On top of that, it’s visually just a bit early 2000s, with the colour brown seemingly being the inspiration for everything. It’s not a bad game, but it’s not a good one really either.
Necromunda: Underhive Wars is a tactical RPG set in the Warhammer 40K universe, but unfortunately it doesn't share much with the quality of the board game.
Necromunda: Underhive Wars is potentially a splendidly entertaining tactical game with lot of depth and atmosphere but, at the moment, it is marred by a plethora of technical issues that make it a chore to play.
Die-hard Warhammer fans and those looking for a Necromunda fix are sure to enjoy some of what Necromunda: Underhive Wars has on offer. However, for anyone else looking for an exciting turn-based strategy experience, it may feel somewhat underwhelming.
Although Necromunda has freed itself from the limitations of the original license, it's still a failure. This is due to poor execution at almost every level, as well as a big lack of ambition and content. It's ugly, the interface is heavy, there are bugs everywhere, the modes lack variety and are repetitive, and the AI is slow and overwhelmingly stupid, which ends up killing the fun of the title's solo aspect. It's still possible to have fun against other players however, as its qualities as a turn-based tactical game stand out despite the rest.
