The new MXGP edition, based on the 2016 season, offers the player a dynamic, ever-more enjoyable gaming experience thanks to a series of innovative graphics and techniques introduced by the new Unreal®Engine 4 graphics engine which will take the game experience to a surprising new level. Hit the gas and get ready to tackle unpredictable, dynamic weather conditions in a competition which is unique in its genre. From sun to heavy rain, every change will decisively influence the rider’s visibility and the highly-deformable ground, putting even the most expert player to the test.
And it is the ground which provides the greatest challenge: mud, dust and dynamic deformations will be the master of all, while the sounds of engines running at full throttle, souped up with a brand new engine, merge with the ambient noise of chainsaws. And if this incisive generational breakthrough, with the use of the new graphics engine, is not enough to satisfy the most discerning palates, players will also find themselves with a career mode and enhanced customization, along with all official MXGP and MX2 2016 riders, the official tracks, including the MXoN, both in offline and online modes.
MXGP3 The Official Motocross Videogame is also available on PC & PS4.
MXGP3 benefits from the switch to Unreal Engine showing better graphics and a more realistic physics simulation, confirming itself as the reference game for off-road bike games.
MXGP3 is another step forward for the franchise and Milestone is to be commended in how well they have managed to capture the essence of the sport. The title looks better than ever and plays better than ever, a few niggles aside. The use of the Unreal engine makes the bikes and the riders look far more detailed than the proprietary engine ever did. The tracks themselves look increasingly realistic but it is the racing that shines through the game. At its simplest, it becomes a fun arcade racing title; at its most complex, it becomes an unnatural challenge of both manual and mental dexterity. However, Motocross remains a niche sport, and this title remains a game that will only attract those fans, which is a shame because there is a really good racing game tucked away here.
MXGP 3 pointing to the complete transition to the Unreal Engine, which allows a more realistic yield and timely pace. Unfortunately, at least on Xbox One, graphic compromises are obvious, with a frame rate of 30 frames low, and a very blurry picture. For the rest, the most important thing is the spirit of a surprisingly entertaining title.
Even if the third installment in the MXGP series still presents some flaws – which we think will be addressed in the near future – the outstanding improvements made by Milestone in comparison with previous titles can not go unnoticed. As of today, it certainly is the best game of its genre.
