Megabyte Punch is a fighting/beat ‘em up game in which you build your own fighter! As you travel through different environments, you battle other creatures to get their parts. Parts have their own powers and bonuses, like gun arms for a shoot ability or powerful hips for a devastating pelvic thrust attack. Then, using the abilities of your customized fighter, you can compete in the tournament or battle against other players in a destructible arena.
The game takes place in an computer world where you protect the Heartcore of your village against the likes of the Valk Empire and the dreaded Khoteps in 6 different levels with each 3 stages and a boss fight!.
Reptile landed on the market with a small indie gem destined to enter into the hearts of robot customization lovers.
MegaByte Punch is a great mix of customization, platforming and combat. The Smash Bros. combat style could shine in a competitive multiplayer mode and we hope it will be implemented in the future.
Megabyte Punch is a very fun beat 'em up-game by a Dutch developer. It is too bad the controls do not work very smoothly, but who said robots walk around smoothly? Still it is a pity that this game is not easy to handle, because it looks terrific.
The lack of online play is a shame. [Christmas 2013, p.93]
Megabyte Punch is a decent length for the price, especially if you factor in the tournament mode and custom fight modes outside of the main story.
There is fun to be had in Megabyte Punch but just not to the extent of its obvious inspirations.
A brilliant idea brought down by its visual style. Fun for its adventure mode, but otherwise buy a Wii and stick to Smash Bros. [Oct 2013, p.87]
