It’s a moreish experience, buoyed by outstanding controller response and a compelling reward loop. Occasional framerate hiccups threaten to wrestle control out of your hands, but instances of this are generally uncommon. This is a very different kind of two-wheeled platforming to the recent Trials Rising, but it scratches the same kind of itch – arguably more effectively, too.

Lonely Mountains: Downhill offers a great deal of seriously addictive fun and is something that players can enjoy for hours on end.

A serene and pretty aesthetic sits atop a brutal but satisfying arcade downhill bike game which wears its retro stylings and simplicity with pride. A fine game for all and not just for MAMILS!

The very occasional framerate stutter aside, LMD is as much of a joy to stare at as it is to play, and PS4’s biggest sporting surprise of 2019. A wheel good time. [Issue#169, p.96]

It might seem simple, but Lonely Mountains is much more complex than you think. A good idea fantastically executed that we recommend to those who are looking for a somehow relaxing challenge.
