InnerSpace is an exploration flying game set in a world where physics are inverted. Take the role of an unnamed cartographer to explore the various bubble-worlds, collect relics, and encounter each bubble’s mythical demigod, in order to discover more about the universe, its history, and its future.
It’s not a game that is going to be for everyone, and there are problems with direction, getting lost, and the onset of motion sickness. But overall it works great.
A fascinating exploration/filght-sim mix, with great visuals and a good storytelling. Too bad it gets penalized by a troublesome control system, making the experience more frustrating than relaxing.
InnerSpace takes place in a strange world, but it is also beautiful. The bright colours make the world seem friendly and welcoming, and the accompanying music provides a relaxing atmosphere. Players are free to explore the world at their own leisure, meaning that the gameplay should be relaxing too, but there are a couple of gameplay problems that sometimes get in the way.
InnerSpace is a beautiful game with a well-worked gameplay. But unfortunately PolyKnight Games has not been able to fully connect its ideas. A pleasant initial experience can end up being a tedious one.
InnerSpace is, without a doubt, an interesting experience. Despite its annoying inconveniences, it is a relaxing experience from start to finish. Its visuals are mesmerising, and its worlds are beautiful, but it’s difficult to accept it for what it is without comparing it to other, more successful games in the genre.
The elements that build the game, its concept, its control, its artistic style, and even its script, are between the acceptable and the outstanding, and nevertheless the game sometimes fails in a noisy way at the basic point of any game: to entertain the gamers.
InnerSpace is both relaxing and endearing, but fails to truly captivate due to the lack of meaningful progression and pace. It’s a game that encourages players to take a journey into the unknown, yet doesn’t quite relay what the player is journeying towards once there. It’s certainly pleasing at first, but it wears thin far sooner than it should.
