Set in a post-apocalyptic world, it’s up to your special team of God Eaters to destroy god-like monsters devastating the world. With an epic story, unique characters, and all new God Arcs and Aragami, the latest evolution in ACTION is here.
Although almost every single mechanic in the game feels eerily similar to the Monster Hunter series, God Eater 3 manages to stand on its own (monstrous) two feet thanks to some incredible combat and a surprisingly engaging story.
Made both for the fans and new-comers, God Eater 3 is fun and demanding. It offers many hours of play and many subtilities you must master, making it a nice little journey.
God Eater 3 isn’t quite polished like Monster Hunter World, but it surely is the best alternative to Capcom’s videogame.
God Eater 3 is a good if unremarkable title in the monster hunting subgenre. This is a game that doesn’t excel in any one area, but none of its shortcomings are damning to the point of ruining an enjoyable experience. There are attempts at giving more depth to combat with the characters engaging each other and having burst attacks, but using these actions strategically doesn’t greatly alter the battle outcome from just button mashing. The repetitive mission structure paired with a story and characters that feel as if they could have been lifted from any number of games prevent this title from being exceptional, but for fans of the genre, there’s a good game hiding beyond these shortcomings.
At the moment, God Eater 3 is the best option for the fans of the genre, and while some control and graphical issues are here and there, the gameplay is solid and the multiplayer section is very entertaining.
God Eater 3's core gameplay is spot-on for exciting combat yet its missions are too one-note for it to remain engaging for more than a few hours. As a result, its campaign can feel like a chore and even playing online multiplayer ends up being all too samey.
God Eater 3 bears a superficial resemblance to Monster Hunter, boasting many of its features, but none of its depth. It offers nothing but diluted versions of what it has tried to poach from better games.
