Developed by Ninja Theory, DmC Devil May Cry™: Definitive Edition will include all of the stylish action gameplay from the original release, all previously released downloadable content, including the “Vergil’s Downfall” campaign plus brand new modes and additional content, making this the ultimate offering for Devil May Cry fans. Maximizing the potential of next-gen hardware, the game’s high quality production values will run at a stunning 1080p and smooth 60 fps across PlayStation®4 and Xbox One. Starting March 17, 2015, DmC will be available at retail and as a digital download.
New to DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition, players will be able to play as Dante’s twin brother himself in Vergil’s Bloody Palace Mode. For an extra depth of challenge, new modes have been added including Gods Must Die Mode, Must Style Mode and Hardcore Mode. In addition to the game’s new features, players will also receive new Dante and Vergil costumes inspired by classic Devil May Cry character designs.
DmC sees the origin story of self-assured series protagonist Dante retold against a contemporary backdrop. The Dante of DmC is a young man who has no respect for authority or indeed society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life.
Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast. Thanks to his twin brother Vergil, leader of the anti-establishment group “The Order”, Dante is discovering and coming to terms with what it means to be the child of a demon and an angel. With Dante being able to call upon angel and demon abilities at will, his split personality dramatically affects the gameplay style.

New Vergil’s Bloody Palace Mode: Throw down the gauntlet as Dante’s twin brother Vergil against 60 waves of enemies in a challenging new Bloody Palace Mode. Rebalanced combat system: The combat system and enemies have been rebalanced based on fan feedback from DmC Devil May Cry, with gameplay tuning and adjustments made, including optional manual lock-on for classic Devil May Cry fans. Bigger challenges: Brand new gameplay modes for the hardcore DmC players include Hardcore Mode, Must Style Mode, and Gods Must Die Mode.
Must go faster: A long-standing Devil May Cry tradition, Turbo Mode increases gameplay speed by 20% for even faster, more intense combat. Bonus costumes: New costumes for Dante and Vergil inspired by classic Devil May Cry character designs.
DMC Devil May Cry Definitive Edition is also available on PS4.
DmC was one of the best action games of the last generation, and it’s remained fantastic two years later. It’s a better overall value now than it was then thanks to the addition of the DLC campaign and is still a must-play game.
DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition proves that DmC is still brilliant. A slight resolution upgrade, frame rate boost and additional content make for a good value package, but if you've already played DmC on last-gen platforms, you may want to carefully consider re-purchasing this, despite it remaining deliciously devilish.
DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition lives up to its name. It offers the already-solid hack and slash experience, plus all of its different add-ons, not to mention a few all-new enhancements that make the game a must-buy.
Still the same loud, in-your-face action game that was released two years back, but much smoother and with tweaks and extras for returning fans.
It’s a pity that the Definitive Edition falls short to the PC in terms of certain texture details. But other than that even two years after its premiere the rejuvenated Dante and his brother show that they still got it.
You’re getting a buttery smooth gameplay experience, gorgeous graphics… but by and large this is the exact same game you played back on your 360 or PS3.
That combat gets even more refined with a new lock-on mechanism. Suddenly, you can keep track of key enemies, elude with precision, achieve far greater accuracy with special moves. It all works fluidly and easily.
