In Snowfall, the difficulty heats up when the city cools down, thanks to a new in-game temperature reading that will have residents bundling up for warmth when the weather outside is frightful. Cosmetic weather, composed of rain and fog, will be added to Cities: Skylines as part of a free update, along with other features to be announced soon. Players who own Snowfall will get to face new challenges such as ensuring that their city infrastructure can handle seasonal heating demands – and, when the snow starts falling, that the roads can stay clear.
New snowplow services will be required to prevent traffic from freezing in place, while new all-weather trams and expanded public transit options can help residents and visitors alike get around town – and visit the new winter parks and landmarks available in Snowfall.
Cities: Skylines - Snowfall is a good expansion for dedicated fans of the city builder genre who have seen everything that the core game and the After Dark expansion have to offer regarding gameplay.
Winter can be miserable, but Snowfall is a worthwhile addition to the finest city builder available.
There’s a lot more to love here in Snowfall than there was in the slightly meagre After Dark, and from a visual standpoint alone it’s almost worth the price of entry just to build a winter wonderland.
It’s truly an impressive circus act, both playing and developing Skylines, and Snowfall is yet another example of Colossal Order flexing its muscles.
Snowfall introduces more new features than After Dark did, but I wish it had avoided some silliness (I based the economy of my subarctic city mostly on agriculture). [04/2016, p.53]
The snowy setting is fascinating, but this expansion runs out of new stuff to do really quickly.
