Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand is the first DLC to Battlefield 3. It features four maps remade from Battlefield 2. Now you can experience all of these legendary maps again, this time on a completely new engine.
In Back to Karkand players have the opportunity to visit legendary maps from Battlefield 2. Developers created re-interpretations of such maps as Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Wake Island and Sharqi Peninsula. Additionally, they introduced ten new weapons and three vehicles (including STOVL, desert buggy and Armoured personnel carrier).
A must buy and hopefully only the first of many map packs and add-ons! [Jan 2012]

Back to Karkand is an enjoyable expansion, that increases the value of Battlefield 3 itself. You should look at it in a most positive way, but we still hope for more. DICE have hit the nail on the head and have given the fans a solid piece of great fun.
So good that it's become the only way to play Battlefield 3. Buy this now, and enjoy a bit of nostalgia in a new light. [March 2012, p.56]
These four fantastic maps are pricey, but they're more than just a nostalgic throwback. They present Battlefield 3 at its best. [Mar 2012, p.74]
As long as it runs well, BtK's four new battlefields hold the potential for hundreds of hours of explosion-packed entertainment. It'd be easy to pass these off as just mere rehashes of old content, but there are enough tweaks and changes to breathe plenty of new life into the experience.
If you want an excuse to jump back into BF3 or you want to play Wake Island again, you should pick up this expansion. You'll have fun and you'll give that 2.7 GB of data a purpose to exist on your hard drive.
