Return to Gotham City to ring in the New Year, Arkham Origins style. When the CEO of GothCorp is kidnapped, by Mr. Freeze, Batman sets out to bring him to justice.
Along the way, he will uncover the tragic history of his new enemy, prompting our hero to attempt the impossible: save the victim AND the villain. Hours of narrative-driven gameplay and new Open World content await!.
Cold, Cold Heart is a DLC for Batman fans. It is good to see a back story for Mr. Freeze but the game doesn't offer anything new except a story. The DLC has a three hour campaign and focused on Mr. Freeze. Batman: Arkham Origins deserves better.
Like Origins, this lacks notable additions to the Arkham canon, but the shorter form is a better fit for Warner Montreal. [July 2014, p.96]
For the most part, the DLC's structure has you alternating between brawls, stealth encounters, crime scene analysis, and environmental traversal in a way that keeps the pace moving. It doesn't finish strong, but Cold, Cold Heart is still a satisfying sliver of Arkham storytelling.
In truth, the gameplay has begun to tire slightly – certainly the stealth sections feel strained due to a lack of options – but this is still a strong piece of content and a genuinely pleasant surprise. Rocksteady will always be the true Dark Knight, but Cold, Cold Heart proves Warner Bros. Montreal is a decent Dick Grayson after all.
Cold, Cold Heart is a good chunk of Batman gameplay, but fans have probably seen this exact story before.
