More than 10 years following their last appearance on games consoles and PC, Asterix and Obelix are back and in better shape than ever! Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 is a superb blend of action and adventure for all ages, with a winning combination of comedy and brawling. But where has Getafix gone? The long-bearded druid has disappeared after betraying his own people for Julius Caesar! The Gaulish village is in uproar! They must find out the truth! Always ready for a fight, Asterix and Obelix are sent to Rome on a mission by their chief Vitalstatistix. There, they find a new amusement park - Las Vegum - built by the famous Roman emperor.
To what end? What is Getafix hiding?.
Some aspects of this game haven’t aged particularly well, but overall it’s a very enjoyable adventure. If you’re waiting for XXL 3, this is the best way to do it.
Another remaster that plays with our feelings and memories. A great option if we like the sharped sense of humor of the Asterx & Obelix universe and adds interesting references to videogames of the PS2 and Nintendo Gamecube years.
Astérix & Obélix XXL 2 is still nice today despite its age, especially for the youngest, and if this remaster could have been more generous, it fuels the curiosity about the upcoming third episode more developed and meeting the current technical standards.
A good remaster of the video game released back in 2006. The remaster offers mechanics, items and good textures. It is a good introduction to wait for XXL 3, since its gameplay is not surprising.
As a mindless fighter for kids, Asterix and Obelix XXL 2 does a great job, but those looking for more depth or a good use of the license will feel disappointment. Aside from familiar nods to the comics through the background design of Las Vegum and the odd cutscene, there’s not much here for fans or even newcomers.
With easy-to-learn action gameplay and some colorful graphics, this Remastered is a good way to please nostalgic players. Sadly, upscaling and retexturing isn’t enough and the camera handling is still a problem, along with the lack of new features or even co-op mode.
Asterix and Obelix XXL2 is a game that entertains for a little while. This is mainly because of the numerous winks to other games. The remaster doesn't impress on any area. The game has an old feel all over and the gameplay falls flat after a while.
