Assetto Corsa is designed to provide a very realistic driving experience, with single player and multiplayer options, officially licensed cars and tracks developed using Laser scan technology, and the highest level of accuracy possible in reproducing real world motor racing environments. Also, Assetto Corsa XBOX ONE allows for considerable customisation and modification, in order to satisfy the expectations of professional simracers, gamers who prefer to approach the driving experience more progressively, and hobbyists who just like to collect lots of cars and tracks.
A demanding and unforgiving racing experience, without any bells and whistles or facilitation for inexperienced gamers, separate Assetto Corsa from any other competitor on console. Experienced racing lovers will be able to fully enjoy it, while more casual and less patient gamers should look elsewhere.
The full extent of the brilliant driving physics can just be experienced with proper hardware. If you don’t own a racing wheel, the fun you’ll have with Assetto will be limited – not only by the clumsy pad controls but also by the seemingly overwhelming and sometimes even unfair AI.
It's a brilliant simulation, but it comes at the price of even being called a game.
Despite its amazing driving simulation, Assetto Corsa just doesn’t get the racing right. Out on track alone it feels amazing; there’s no denying the remarkable realism Kunos Simulazioni has captured here. Unfortunately the team just hasn’t been able to wrap a comprehensive or competitive racing experience around it this time.
When racing you versus the track Assetto Corsa is hands down the best available simulator. Venture beyond this, however, and there's disappointment to be had at every turn.
In comparison to beautiful, fluid, rich Forza Motorsport 6 Assetto Corsa seems amateurish and I see no point in wasting time on looking for its alleged awesomeness when every platform offers at least one better racing game. [11/2016, p.66]
It’s a real shame that Assetto Corsa is stuck with uninspiring modes and presentation issues as the actual act of driving is engrossing and rewarding.
