The Caribbean, in the turbulent 17th Century. The mighty kingdoms of Spain, England, France and the Netherlands fight over the colonies. And there you are, a young sea captain whose only goal is to become the most powerful man in the New World.
To achieve that goal, you may choose one of the two available campaigns: will you become an Adventurer or a Trader?.
Port Royale 3 is currently one of the best trading simulations on the market.
Quotation forthcoming.
New installment of the popular series failed to bring anything new, compared to the older titles it became lot easier with some pretty annoying controls. [July 2012]
Well-thought-out, transparent gameplay rules make Port Royale 3 a title that can keep you entertained for hours. It's a shame that naval battles are so simplified and the story is presented so unattractively. [July 2012, p.76]
It's been a while since the first games of the series were released, but Port Royale 3 has not improved vastly or learned from previous mistakes. In fact, the game has some serious issues that prevent it from becoming a good episode. Behind its terrible UI and its lack of dynamism you still may find many possibilities.
Unintuitive, uninvolving and overpriced. Not even its satisfying trading system can put the wind in Port Royale 3's sails. [Sept 2012, p.66]
I occasionally caught glimpses of a competent simulation underneath the bugs, poor instruction, and rage-inducing interface, but not even the best of today's strategy games would be tolerable to play if subject to the malfunctioning saves, crashes, and sloppy presentation of Port Royale 3.
