Baja: Edge of Control HD is the carefully remastered version of the original off-road racer from 2008 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This truly unique game contains more than 1,000 miles of the toughest terrain Mother Nature has to offer, including the steepest mountains, thickest mud and deepest canyons known to man. Only the HD version features much crisper and more detailed visuals running at super smooth framerates in up to 4K screen resolution.
With more than 160 sponsored vehicles in eight classes , including Trophy Trucks, 4x4s and buggies, Baja: Edge of Control HD XBOX ONE features a full array of upgradeable options with hundreds of authentic parts that affect each vehicle's performance. Players will put their off-road machines to the test in near-vertical Hill Climb challenges, head-to-head Open Class races, circuit races and the ultimate off-road endurance challenge: the Baja! Baja: Edge of Control HD contains more than 100 tracks across all landscapes in races that can last up to four hours. The game's revolutionary vehicle physics deliver unprecedented life-like handling, and a support management system that allows gamers to monitor and repair realistic vehicle damage as fenders fly, tires are blown, suspension is stressed and engines overheat.
Yes, even with all the visual improvements the original age is evident. But in an age, where every racing game wants to show off its realism, this arcade racer from a past rich with competition, where it was nothing but an insidersâ tip, is a welcome addition to your library, not least because of the four player splitscreen.
Baja: Edge of Control HD isnât going to blow anyone away, but for racing game fans after some cheap off-road thrills itâs certainly worth considering. Itâs got a decent rock-heavy soundtrack and its races are often full of thrills and spills, keeping you moderately entertained for well over 20 hours or so.
Baja: Edge of Control is anything but special, but at $29.99 it is hard to fault it too much. I had fun. I love off-road racing games and this one just scratched that itch. The track diversity is nice, I just wish it didnât turn into such a grind as the game went on.
BAJA: Edge of Control HD offers a different bet to the players who enjoy driving games by offering a category rarely used in video games. We have to mention its great duration because if the game gets you caught, it will keep you glued to the control for many hours, as this is the biggest and almost unique incentive that the game enjoys.
Overall, and whilst Baja: Edge of Control HD isnât anywhere near close to the âForza-for-off-road fansâ experience that many gamers have been clamouring for, there are still plenty of improvements to be found with a title that was overly disappointing on its initial release back in 2008.
Making a remaster of this game is nonsense. BAJA Edge of Control HD doesnât offer a quality work on its technical side, it only shows a slightly improvement on resolution on a game that doesnât accomplish what we remind of the original one.
