Starvoid is a multiplayer real time strategy game, wrapped in the easy-to-pick-up and easy-to-play structure of a first person shooter. The player takes the role of a mercenary commander in the outer rims of the galaxy, fighting for control over the rare spaceship fuel, Starvoid PC. On the battlefield, the player has an arsenal of combat robots, vehicles and ingenious abilities ranging from deployable machine gun turrets and minefields to repair nanoids and orbital rocket strikes.
Everything is constantly refilled as the commander instantly is allowed to re-enter the battlefield after being eliminated.
Starvoid is the first multiplayer RTS title I've been able to get into for a while, but it's not one I can see myself playing for hours on end.
Starvoid manages to offer that quick and sweet multiplayer-RTS fix for those of us that lack the time or dedication to go for the more hardcore alternatives. What it lacks in game modes and levels, it compensates for with a deep customization system, but what seems to be a very small player base may in the end render the game more void than starlike.
Starvoid has an interesting concept but lacks of depth and it's not as polished as a competitive title should be.
It's certainly fun for the odd match, definitely different from all the other quick-play multiplayer games out there, but you have been warned. It needs an injection of extra fun, STAT.
Starvoid is an RTS direct and simple. It's mostly recommended for all RTS lovers who need a lightweight title with witch to pass a few hours.
As a concept, Starvoid is pleasantly surprising; as a multiplayer game, the lack of community is disastrous, which makes Starvoid both quite easy and annoyingly difficult to recommend.
