Playing the train repairer is not a flop, but its routine campaign with notoriously repetitive tasks will satisfy only hard-core railroad fans. Or maybe not even them.
What could have been is a theme writ large in this game. The mark was missed by so narrow a margin it’s a real shame. I’m not going to say avoid like the plague like I did with Hatred, because Train Mechanic Simulator 2017 has its good points, but if you decide to buy the game, be aware that you’re not buying what a lot of people would consider a completed product.
