NASCAR Heat 4 is the official video game of NASCAR. Looking and sounding better than ever with updated user interface, graphics and engine audio, race across 38 tracks in all three NASCAR National Series plus the fan-favorite Xtreme Dirt Tour.
NASCAR Heat 4 is also available on PC.
NASCAR Heat 4 gets it right with properly replicating NASCAR and the racing is the best the series has seen. The AI does a wonderful job of not ruining the experience and is a better opponent than people online. The Career Mode continues to be deep. About the only knock the game has is that there is no major new mode but the advancements are enough. You won’t be worrying about that when you’re racing. I feel the dedication to eSports brought upon this upgrade of on-track action and the visuals get the necessary jump to be considered a major player in racing games. NASCAR fans should absolutely pick up NASCAR Heat 4.
As with most sports games, NASCAR Heat 4 does not escape the "problem" that these types of titles usually have. The fourth installment of the NASCAR Heat series does not present much news. If you have never played any installment of this saga, then you will be impressed with its incredible graphic level, hilarious career mode and intense careers. On the other hand, if you have already played another installment, especially NASCAR Heat 3, we are sorry to tell you that you are going to take a major disappointment, because the changes with respect to the third installment are minimal.
Outside of those minor issues, NASCAR Heat 4 is an enjoyable racer that had no trouble making me want to take another lap around the track.
NASCAR Heat 4’s A.I. is a work in progress, the career mode is adequate, and the online suite is behind the times. Nevertheless, it’s the best offering to date even if it’s not totally dialed in, forcing you to get up on that steering wheel and dig deep for your spot on the track.
NASCAR Heat 4 still has its issues, but Monster Games’ long overdue overhaul finally makes this the game that the series has always tried to be.
It's not making any sweeping changes but NASCAR Heat 4 manages to make the social aspects of the career more influential. Transitions from night to day compliment the already brilliant visuals, even if the small stutters remain present. Racing online and offline is still competitive, fun and the options make the package feel accessible.
A dated and niche license receives the game that it deserves - shallow, simplistic and unsatisfying. Turn left before you get to the checkout.
