The biohazard threat has not ended: Just when it seemed that the menace of Resident Evil had been destroyed, along comes a new terror to send shivers down players' spines. Chris Redfield, returning Resident Evil hero, has followed the path of the evil literally around the globe. After joining a new organization, Chris heads to Africa where the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures.
He is joined by a new partner, Sheva Alomar, who lends her strength, intelligence and sharp-shooting skills to the mission. In order to survive, Chris and Sheva must work together to take on the challenges of discovering the truth behind this evil plot. Utilizing a revolutionary new 2-player co-op mode of gameplay, players assume control of either Chris or Sheva and experience Resident Evil in new ways.
In Resident Evil 5, Capcom has players fearing the daylight as much as they have feared shadow in previous games.
While the game still is pretty fantastic, it just does not hold my attention the way it originally did. That’s not saying the game is bad, not in the least. I just played it a ton seven years ago and the remastered version just served me as a reminder of how much fun I had playing the game. Even if it is now outdated.
A good remaster by Capcom, with enjoyable graphics and new modes and contents. If you never played the game or want to relive Chris and Sheva's adventures (including all DLCs), it won't disappoint you.
Alone or with a co-op partner, it’s hard to go wrong with Resident Evil 5. It is perfect for franchise fans or those looking to get into the series ahead of Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 remake. At the time of writing, it’s a perfect time to delve in as well — this, and other Resident Evil games, are heavily discounted. Just avoid RE6 unless you know what you’re in for.
Decent in single-player but thrilling in co-op, this is a fine upgrade of a good Resi outing. [Sept 2016, p.89]
Unfortunately, it has limited appeal and with Resident Evil 4 coming soon, it’s hard to justifying purchasing this one again.
The work done with this remastered version of Resident Evil 5 is just a little more than enough. We recommend the game only to those who couldn't play it in the past generation and who are looking for a good action game, despite some obsolete mechanics, with an interesting game coop.
This remastered version of Resident Evil 5 has not changed even a bit. The graphics are still the same as in the original game, released seven years ago. This “remaster” is for players who have not tried the original.
