“GIT GUD AND DIE TRYING” Kill to Collect is a cyberpunk rogue-like for up to four player co-op that is designed for short bursts of intense gameplay sessions, rewarding players for their skilled survival. Featuring procedurally generated levels, Kill to Collect PC brings a constant challenge. No two experiences are the same and every interaction could be the difference between life and death.
Set in Geoshelter Alpha, a dangerous and dystopian world that is the last known city on Earth, hired bounty “Hunters” patrol the lawless slums below to defeat enemies and reinstill order. Whether hired for money or glory, the “Hunters” all follow the same code: Kill to Collect.
Aside from its '80s galore, there's a basic dungeon-crawler, powered by a clever combat system. Sadly Kill to Collect gets boring quickly and feels always the same, at least in single-player mode.
Kill to Collect's 80's cyberpunk aesthetic is a thin veneer with no real personality to back it up. The game contains the skeleton of a great action roguelike, but there's just not enough variety to keep it interesting for long.
A challenging action game, that requires an excellent mastery of its simple control scheme. A roguelike experience interesting on the short run, but too tedious and boring to grant a sufficient replay value. The charming cyberpunk style is not enough to overcome these issues.
For those of you out there who have friends across the country who are looking for a brutal throwback to the likes of Smash TV and Gauntlet to waste a few hours in, I suppose you could do worse. Just don’t expect too much from Kill To Collect as it’s certain to not deliver.
