Codemasters reboot his F1 franchise to take advantage of the new gen consoles' capabilities, but on the way to doing that loses a lot of game modes crippling the game.
It could have been an impressive start into the Formula 1 era on current console systems. Visually mostly impressive and with convincing driving physics Codemasters is on the right path. But the overly aggressive AI, the inconsistent penalty system and the disappointing damage system combined with the even further reduced content make sure that this is nothing more than a good foundation on which to build.
The core experience is deep and 60fps racing is welcome, but with many staple features absent and little sense of true excitement, this isn't a great new-gen debut.
F1 2015 absolutely nails the driving experience, with perfect controls and incredible physics. But the options are so limited, you're likely to get bored fast. Roll on 2016. [Issue#127, p.81]
F1 2015 lays good foundations for the series future on new consoles, but it still needs a lot of work. Too many bugs and the absence of the Career mode, one of the most loved in previous games, make it hard to suggest it even to the biggest Formula One fans.
Once again, Codemasters has created an F1 game that's true to the studio's driving pedigree, but fails on other fronts. It looks nice and drives well, but unless you're so caught up in the F1 season that you absolutely have to sate your cravings with a video game, you may have already played this game and put it down.
We're not exactly seeing what the wait was for when it comes to F1 2015. The game is clearly rushed, riddled with bugs and lacking in some relatively basic features.
