This is the story of crossed destinies and a broken love in a world torn apart. All of them will try to survive the horror of the trenches following their faithful canine companion. In Valiant Hearts: The Great War, the lives of all these characters are inextricably drawn together over the course of the game.
Friendship, love, sacrifice, and tragedy befall each one as they help each other to retain their humanity against the horrors of war. Valiant Hearts: The Great War PC is inspired by letters from the First World War and a number of other historical materials. A fictitious story, the game is nevertheless based on real historical events and sites, such as famous battles like the Battle of the Marne or the Battle of the Somme on the Western Front.
It sends you digging into the trenches of World War 1, but knows that leaving you to wallow in the mud and blood forever does not grant it emotional maturity. For every dour moment in Valiant Hearts, for every uphill struggle, there is a moment of warmth, of return, and reunion between old friends.

Valiant Hearts is an emotion-driven and beautifully presented game that deals with World War 1. It combines action-adventure gameplay with great storytelling and imparts knowledge of the historical background. Although the gameplay itself and the puzzles are simple and some action sequences are annoying, Valiant Heart is a clear recommendation for players above 12 years with even the slightest interest in history.
A visually beautiful game that deftly moves between moments of joy and moments of tragedy, and ultimately doesn't shy away from the fact that "great" is just about the last thing any war should be called.
Valiant Hearts isn't perfect...but it's still pretty great. It may not be completely tear-jerking, but it's still touching. The story may not be one I'll remember in detail decades from now, but it's still strong. The message may occasionally get lost in the gameplay, but it still rings true in the end.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a superbly titled game. It is a valiant effort at a sincere depiction of war by developers whose hearts were clearly in the right place, telling a gripping story that is still respectful of its source.
Visually stunning but mechanically lacklustre, Valiant Hearts gets in the way of its own storytelling.
