Welcome to Flatwood Peaks, a small whimsical town with a problem -- Death is on vacation. Play as Penny and help trapped ghosts with your trusted scythe. Flip the entire world around to solve puzzles on both the living and the dead side and slowly uncover the mystery surrounding your own demise.
Flipping Death is also available on Nintendo Switch.
Pure, delicious, gothic-flavored anarchy. Flipping Death consolidates Zoink’s position as the heir apparent to Double Fine’s Throne of Video Game Humor and delivers on every front imaginable. Fans of sharp writing and offbeat humor, this one is a true delight.
A game like Flipping Death could easily outstay its welcome but Zoink seems to understand the limits of the genre. Aside from some frustrating controls - which might irk both super-precise and platformer-challenged gamers - Flipping Death has enough humor, cheeky irreverence and visual audacity to carry it through the tough spots. Played for the characters, story, puzzles and imaginative setting, Flipping Death is a good time.
A hilarious 2.5D platformer which will have you wanting to play on due to the fantastic characters, solid storyline and first-rate voice acting. Flipping Death has a good mix of puzzles but is slightly let down by its somewhat forced platforming sections.
Flipping Death's logic is sometimes too ridiculous for its own good, and frustrating platforming sections add some tarnish. But the game’s silly puzzles, self-aware humor, and crazy characters still make a wonderful experience filled with plenty of chuckles, which help to leave you satisfied as the credits roll.
A valiant error to kill with laughter. [Issue#204, p.72]
Despite some wonky physics, Flipping Death melds its platforming and puzzle elements seamlessly enough leave fans of both genres at least satisfied (though it’s more puzzle than platform). But the unique art style and comedic punches are what ultimately enticed me to stay in Flatwood Peaks a while longer.
